                                          MICA FAQs

I’m sure many times when people approach you and say, "Hey, what's this MICA Runway thing all about?" Oftentimes, you might not have the accurate answer to their questions. However, I’d like to try to help you with that. Sit back and relax, because you are about to get MICA-ized so you can get all your MICA Runway questions answered in a most definitive manner. We want to be represented and clearly define what we stand for by our name and it’s purpose.

1. WHAT DOES MICA STANDS FOR?
MICA stands for Multicultural and International Consortium of (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) Artists and Advocates. MICA showcases, promotes and celebrates diversity within the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. MICA also advocates equal opportunity. It is held in New York City. It's considered the most prestigious event in the United States by "those in the know.” MICA is a volunteer-based event. Please visit "About MICA" page to learn more about its history.

2. WHEN IS THE EVENT?
Friday, October 8 to Sunday, October 10, 2010.

3. WHY IS MICA RUNWAY HOSTING THE EVENT FOR THREE DAYS?
We are becoming more recognized because we have addressed the growing need for more inclusions, included talent and art showcase.

4. WHO MANAGES MICA RUNWAY?
MICA Runway is an event that is produced and operated by founder, producer, and brainchild, Ann Marie “Jade” Bryan along with her dedicated loyalists of MICA Team, family, friends, supporters and DeafVision Filmworks board members. They believe in giving back to charity. Visit our website: www.micarunway.com

5. WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN FOR ME?
Well, since you made it this far, it means you appreciate the arts, fashion, film, Deaf culture, use American Sign Language (ASL), and you believe in the celebration of diversity. When you give or support MICA, you are making another person’s dream possible. Most important, you believe in making a lasting impact on someone’s life.

6. WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO IF I SUPPORT THIS CAUSE?
The money raised will go towards our campaign, VISUAL MUSIC PROJECT: ACCESS FOR MUSIC NOW!" with a goal of producing professional quality music videos that are accessible to ASL consumers. You are supporting a historical moment waiting to happen and be part of a positive social change movement and improving the lives of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people.

7. HOW MUCH OF MY MONEY GOES TO CHARITY?
It's very simple: we donate at least 10% of our proceeds to charity, and our proceeds are made up from our ticket sales, donation and sponsorship. Although we cannot tell you the exact dollar amount of how much of your money goes to charity, we can guarantee you that at least 10% of ticket sales go to charity. Our proceeds will go to an Haitian Organization to support Deaf people in Haiti.

8. IS MY DONATION TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
All proceeds contributed to MICA are tax-deductible. You are supporting an event hosted by DeafVision Filmworks, which is a project of both DeafVision Filmworks and Jade Films and Entertainment to support our campaign, Visual Music Project.

9. IS THERE A REFUND ON MY TICKET?
As this is a charity, all tickets are non-refundable. All ticket sales are final.
10. CAN I TRANSFER OVER MY TICKET TO SOMEONE ELSE’S NAME IF I CANNOT ATTEND MICA RUNWAY?

No. Tickets that are purchased are Non-Transferable. Each ticket is unique and attached to a person and its respective event. This causes ticket confusion at the box-office.

14. IF I SUBMIT MY FILM FOR THE MICA CINEMA SHOWCASE, WILL I GET BACK MY FILM?

However, by submitting your film for consideration to MICA does not guarantee that your film will be screened or promoted at MICA Cinema Showcase 2010.
